Yesterday, former Second Lady Samira Bawumia joined arts enthusiasts, diplomats, and creatives at the final edition of “Art of Exchange” in Accra. Grammy-nominated musician Rocky Dawuni, the Embassy of Switzerland in Ghana, and DiplomArts hosted the cultural series.

The closing event brought together members of the diplomatic community and celebrated Ghanaian artists for an evening of dialogue, music, and visual art. World-renowned artist Ibrahim Mahama of Red Clay Studio showcased some of his famous art installations to guests, including Mrs. Bawumia.

With Samira Bawumia in attendance, the event drew wider attention to how art and diplomacy can intersect to promote Ghana’s creative economy. Her presence highlighted growing support from Ghana’s leadership for initiatives that spotlight African artists on global platforms.

“Art of Exchange” has, over the past months, served as a bridge between diplomacy and creativity. The series created space for artists to engage directly with ambassadors, cultural attachés, and art enthusiasts on how art can drive cultural exchange and social impact.

Rocky Dawuni’s blend of music and activism anchored the series, while the Swiss Embassy pushed cultural diplomacy. Ibrahim Mahama’s installations – known for using jute sacks, wood, and reclaimed materials to tell stories of labor and trade – added depth to conversations about African art’s place on the world stage.

The final edition closes with Ghana’s reputation as a hub for contemporary African art getting stronger, especially as institutions like Red Clay Studio in Tamale continue to attract international attention.
