Everton kicked off their journey at the impressive new Hill Dickinson Stadium with a significant first Premier League victory of the season, defeating Brighton 2–0.

Jack Grealish, who made his first start since arriving on loan from Manchester City, shone brightly during the match. His powerful cross was converted by Iliman Ndiaye after just 23 minutes, marking the forward as the scorer of Everton’s last goal at Goodison Park and their inaugural goal in their new venue.

Seven minutes into the second half, Grealish’s intelligent pass found James Garner, who unleashed a stunning 25-yard shot to extend the lead.

Brighton had several opportunities but ultimately paid the price for their missed chances. Danny Welbeck failed to convert from close range, while Kaoru Mitoma and Jan Paul van Hecke both struck the woodwork. Welbeck also had a penalty saved by Jordan Pickford, who made a fantastic dive to his left.

For David Moyes’ team, the outcome marked a momentous occasion. The new stadium along the River Mersey was alive with sound and color as supporters celebrated a new chapter and Grealish’s resurgence as a vital attacking force.

Pickford’s late-game heroics secured the victory, allowing Everton to celebrate the beginning of their new era with a win.

Brighton, on the other hand, will lament their missed chances and need to regroup swiftly ahead of their match against Manchester City next weekend.
