The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared that first-year students in Senior High Schools (SHS), encompassing both Single Track and Transitional schools nationwide, are required to report to school on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

In an official circular distributed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES emphasized that this arrangement is part of the newly published 2025/2026 academic calendar.

The statement instructed all Heads of schools and Regional Directors to ensure strict compliance with the new academic calendar to maintain consistency and facilitate smooth implementation across all educational institutions.

GES encouraged Regional Directors to offer the necessary oversight and assistance to Heads of Schools in the execution of the calendar.

The letter, signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, also mentioned that a comprehensive academic calendar has been attached for implementation. This document includes essential term dates, holidays, and footnotes that clarify special considerations to ensure a seamless academic year.

“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the GES stated.
