Nana B Praises IGP for Quick Action on Ablekuma North Election Violence

Henry Nana Boakye, National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for swiftly investigating and prosecuting eight individuals involved in the Ablekuma North election violence. However, he expressed concern that about 20 people were allegedly involved in the violence, and investigations should continue to bring all perpetrators to justice.
Nana B praised the IGP for swift action, but urged further investigations to apprehend all those involved.
While eight individuals have been convicted, Nana B cited videos showing around 20 people involved in the violence.
Nana B questioned the granting of bail to self-confessed criminals while media practitioners and individuals presumed innocent remain in police and prison remand.
Despite the IGP’s commitment to deploy 5,000 police personnel without military intervention, Nana B noted a military presence in Akwatia since August 24.
Nana B emphasized the police’s role in maintaining security during the Akwatia elections and urged them to stand firm.
He also highlighted Ghana’s drop of six places in the 2025 Global Peace Index, stressing the need to avoid further insecurity
