Mahama Meets UK Ghanaians in London, Pushes Dual Citizens in Parliament, AfCFTA, Investment
President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians in the United Kingdom that his government is committed to accountability, inclusive governance, and national development.

Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting in London, the President said the engagement was part of activities around the Ghana-UK Investment Summit. The summit aims to strengthen bilateral trade, deepen economic cooperation, and attract strategic investors into Ghana.

Mahama told the diaspora that constitutional review processes are ongoing to expand their role in governance. The proposed changes will allow eligible dual citizens to serve at both parliamentary and ministerial levels. If passed, it removes a major barrier that has kept many skilled Ghanaians abroad from serving at home.

The President highlighted Ghana’s improving economic outlook. He said the country is now being referenced globally as a model for recovery and reform. That recognition, he added, should translate into more investor confidence and jobs.AfCFTA as the next big play

Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to African integration. He stressed that regional cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA, is key to shared prosperity. With AfCFTA headquartered in Accra, Ghana wants to position itself as the trade gateway for the continent.

The Town Hall also underscored the role of Ghanaians abroad in driving socio-economic transformation. From remittances to skills transfer, Mahama said the diaspora remains central to Ghana’s development and to strengthening international partnerships.
