Accra, Ghana – Ali Maiga, Esq., a former Member of Parliament for Dormaa West and a candidate for the NPP National Organizer position, has urged supporters of President Akufo-Addo to refrain from criticizing the government, pointing to the significant mandate Ghanaians have given the President.

In an interview with Atinka TV, Maiga acknowledged that while disappointment is natural, he stressed that holding a position in government is a privilege rather than a right. “If every supporter had a chance to serve, no one would remain in office for more than two weeks,” he remarked, underscoring the scarcity of available roles.

Maiga’s remarks come in the wake of increasing dissatisfaction among certain NPP supporters, including Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, who recently criticized the party, labeling it as “fake” and declaring his disassociation from it. Frimpong-Boateng condemned the party’s leadership, citing issues of corruption, power abuse, and arrogance as factors contributing to its potential defeat in the 2024 elections.

In response, the NPP has begun disciplinary actions aimed at expelling Frimpong-Boateng, denouncing his statements as “extremely reprehensible” and harmful to the party’s cohesion and reputation. Nevertheless, Frimpong-Boateng has retaliated, stating “to hell with them” and rejecting any invitations from the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
