John Boadu elected NPP National Chairman as party unveils new Executives ahead of 2028

Kumasi
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a new set of National Executives to steer the affairs of the party into the 2028 general elections.
Over 7,100 delegates converged at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the party’s National Delegates Conference held on October 3-4, 2026, to vote across 31 polling centres under the supervision of the Electoral Commission.
Former General Secretary John Boadu emerged as National Chairman, beating contenders Boakye Agyarko and Paul Afoko, after Sammy Crabbe threw his support behind him ahead of voting.
Incumbent General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua retained his position with what he had earlier described as a decisive mandate from delegates after touring all 16 regions.
In the vice-chairmanship race, Kojo Fosu Boadu (Bamba) won as First Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye as Second Vice Chairman, and Nana Akomea as Third Vice Chairperson.
Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover was elected National Organiser, while Alfred Thompson took the National Treasurer slot.
Mavis Hawa Koomson won the National Women’s Organiser position, Yakubu Abanga was elected National Youth Organiser, Ali Suraj secured the National Nasara Organiser role, and Dennis Miracles Aboagye was elected National Communications Director.
The conference also approved a major constitutional amendment making flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the party leader, replacing the previous arrangement that gave the role to the National Chairman.
In his address, Dr. Bawumia paid glowing tribute to former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, citing the NHIS, School Feeding Programme, and Free SHS as transformative legacies.
The newly elected executives have been charged with uniting the party and delivering victory in the 2028 general elections.
