President Mahama Launches ‘Resetting Ghana’ Tour in Central Region

President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day “Resetting Ghana” tour of the Central Region, inspecting key infrastructure and engaging chiefs and residents on development priorities.
The tour started Friday, June 27, with the President visiting ongoing projects in Cape Coast and Assin North. On Saturday, he cut the sod for a 24-hour economy market at Assin Bereku, a flagship initiative aimed at boosting trade and job creation outside normal business hours.

Focus on Infrastructure and Jobs
Speaking to community leaders, President Mahama said the tour was about “listening, assessing, and resetting priorities to deliver results for ordinary Ghanaians”. He inspected roads, health facilities, and market structures, and held town-hall engagements with youth groups and traders.
The 24-hour market at Assin Bereku is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for traders, transport operators, and security personnel. Local chiefs welcomed the project, noting that the Central Region has long requested more investment in markets and agro-processing.

Broader Policy Signals
The tour comes amid other government actions. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is advancing a legal framework to regulate the sector, while the Tema Oil Refinery has completed key upgrades according to government reports.

Political analysts say the “Resetting Ghana” messaging is designed to reconnect with voters ahead of midterm policy reviews. Opposition MPs have questioned the pace of delivery, with Minority voices accusing the government of abandoning agriculture for “GoldBod”.
For residents of Cape Coast, Assin, and surrounding districts, the President’s physical presence signals attention to regional concerns. Whether the projects translate to faster delivery of services will be the test in the coming months.
