Former MP Ali Maiga files for NPP National Organizer today
Former Member of Parliament for Dormaa West, Ali Maiga Halidu, Esq., will today, Thursday, 27th August 2026, file his nomination to contest for the position of National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The filing is scheduled for 5:00 PM at the NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra.
Ali Maiga, 45, hails from Nkrankwanta in the Bono Region. Born March 11, 1980, he is a lawyer, development consultant and grassroots politician.
He holds a First-Class Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Coast, which earned him a scholarship for an MPhil at the University of Cambridge, UK, and he has been called to the Ghana Bar.
Before politics, he worked as a Teaching Assistant at UCC, a professional teacher with the Ghana Education Service, and a Regulatory Officer at the Food and Drugs Authority.
Politically, he served as MP for Dormaa West in the Seventh Parliament after winning the seat in 2016 with 8,422 votes (50.88%). He subsequently lost the seat in 2020 and 2024 to NDC’s Vincent Oppong Asamoah.
He is a Muslim, married with six children, and says he will not contest Dormaa West again.
Why National Organizer?
Maiga says he is running on a message of rebuilding the party from the base. According to him, “The NPP needs a competent and grassroots person to reorganise from the polling station to the national level if it intends to return to power in 2028.” He is expected to be accompanied by a large crowd of supporters to
