President Mahama Commissions Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu Under 24-Hour Economy Initiative
President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu in the Northern Region, a modern manufacturing facility under the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy initiative.
The facility is expected to boost local manufacturing, create decent jobs for the youth, and expand economic opportunities in the Northern Region, while strengthening Ghana’s textile and apparel value chain for both domestic and export markets.
Commissioning the facility, President Mahama said the hub is a practical demonstration of the 24-Hour Economy policy in action, aimed at driving import substitution, industrialisation, and job creation through strategic partnerships.
Present at the ceremony were the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Frederik Landshöft; Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Mr. Goosie Tanoh; and the Chief Executive of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM), Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah.
According to the government, the Northshore Apparel Hub also incorporates sustainable and zero-waste production practices, in line with its broader efforts to promote industrialisation alongside environmental sustainability.
The hub is expected to serve as a major garment production centre in northern Ghana, linking local cotton farmers, tailors, and fashion entrepreneurs to larger markets and providing skills training for young people in the area.
