Gusheigu: Man reportedly dies by suicide over son’s SHS prospectus

A man identified as Alhaji Abdulai from Macheleyili, a community in Kpatinga in the Gusheigu District of the Northern Region, has reportedly died by suicide following difficulties raising money for his son’s Senior High School admission.

Residents said Abdulai had repeatedly expressed concern about his inability to raise the funds needed to purchase items required for his son’s admission to the school where he had been placed.

According to the residents, he had on several occasions threatened to take his own life if he could not raise the money for the items.

They said he left home on Sunday morning, September 20, 2026, and did not return.

His body was reportedly found in the community on the afternoon of Monday, September 21.

The police, however, have not officially confirmed the incident, saying they had not received a report on the case.
