NPP elects National Executives today in Kumasi

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today elect its national executives at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as it completes its internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general election.
About 7,163 delegates from across the country are expected to participate in the National Delegates Congress, which will be held in two parts – consideration of proposed constitutional amendments followed by voting for national officers.
The Electoral Commission is supervising the elections, with ballot papers and electoral materials already deployed to the Ashanti Region. Between 3,000 and 4,000 police officers have been deployed to handle security and traffic around the stadium and delegates’ hostels.
46 candidates are on the final ballot for nine positions after Salam Mustapha withdrew from the National Organiser race. Dennis Miracles Aboagye is unopposed for National Communications Director.
Key contests:
- National Chairperson: John Boadu, Sammy Crabbe, Paul Afoko, Boakye Agyarko
- General Secretary: Justin Frimpong Kodua (incumbent), Eugene Boakye Antwi, Sylvester Tetteh, Dr Charles Dwamena
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who won the party’s presidential primary in January 2026, is the NPP’s flagbearer for 2028. The new executives will lead the party’s rebuilding drive after its 2024 defeat.
