Asante Akyem North MP OK Frimpong’s extradition hearing fixed for November 18 in Haarlem

Two bail applications rejected as MP remains in Dutch custody since May arrest at Schiphol Airport
The extradition hearing for the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, popularly known as OK Frimpong, is set for Tuesday, November 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Haarlem, Netherlands.
I.A. (Ilona) Broekhuizen, Medewerker communicatie, relayed the information to DeStory News Desk.
The hearing will determine the fate of the MP, popularly known as OK Frimpong, who has been in Dutch custody since his arrest at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on May 10, 2026.
Mr. Frimpong was arrested by Dutch authorities at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on May 10, 2026, upon arrival from Ghana.
Parliament subsequently confirmed his detention on May 12 and said it was engaging Ghana’s diplomatic mission in The Hague for further details.
The arrest followed an extradition request from the United States. Initial reports indicated a warrant had been issued by a magistrate court in Illinois for his extradition for questioning. Subsequent reports have linked the case to broader allegations of romance scams, fraud and money laundering.
The November 18 hearing in Haarlem is expected to determine whether the Ghanaian legislator will be extradited to the United States to face the allegations. The allegations remain unproven and have not been tested in court.
