Police officer shoots himself at duty post in Ahafo Region

A police officer from the Duayaw-Nkwanta station of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region, identified as Sergeant Brown, has reportedly taken his own life by shooting himself.

This tragic event took place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Duayaw-Nkwanta charge office, leaving local residents in disbelief.

Sources indicate that the 40-year-old officer was a family man, married with two children.

In response to the incident, the police administration in the region has initiated an investigation.

In the meantime, the deceased has been transported to the St. John of God Hospital in Duayaw Nkwanta for an autopsy and preservation.
