Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has expressed his lack of enthusiasm regarding the stance of aspiring presidential candidate Kennedy Agyapong from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He argues that Agyapong’s claim of being a self-made man and entrepreneur is unfounded, as it was government contracts that contributed to Mr. Agyapong’s success.

During a discussion about the NPP flagbearer race polls, which show former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leading Agyapong and other candidates, Kpebu stated on the Key Points program on TV3 on Saturday, August 23, that “None of these candidates will be suitable for 2032; Bawumia will be too old. No one older than 63 will succeed in 2032.”

“Bawumia will be 70 years old at the time, and we will not try that again. Kennedy Agyapong will make so much noise, but as to whether he can stand for what he says is another thing.

“He claims he is self-made, but it is a government contract that made Ken Agyapong rich. Agyapong should come and show us how he made money; he is not a self-made man as he touts himself to be. It’s a government contract. All of us can become rich when we get government contracts.”

He additionally encouraged the NPP to begin preparing Okaikoi Central representative Patrick Yaw Boamah and Ofoase Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah for assuming leadership of the party.

“They should be looking at Patrick Boamah, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. Bawumia should choose a younger Muslim and try to sell that to the party. Bawumia is not sellable. He delivered next to nothing.”

Recent polls published by Global Info Analytics indicate that former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is ahead of his competitors in the national survey, as well as in significant regions.

The most recent survey conducted by Global Info Analytics regarding the forthcoming NPP Presidential Primaries shows Dr. Bawumia with a substantial lead of 52%, followed by Kennedy Agyapong at 17% and Bryan Acheampong at 2%.

Nevertheless, the survey also uncovered results that position Dr. Bawumia ahead of the second-placed Kennedy Agyapong in crucial areas, including his home region, Central Region.

According to the polls, Bawumia leads in the Central Region with 32%, while Kennedy Agyapong is behind at 25%, with a notable 35% of delegates remaining undecided.

In the Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia also maintains a lead, garnering support from 54% of delegates, compared to 14% for Ken and 23% who are undecided.

In the Eastern Region, Bawumia again takes the lead with 36%, while Kennedy Agyapong follows at 13%, and 24% of delegates are undecided.

In the Greater Accra Region, a critical area due to its large number of delegates, Bawumia is leading with 51%, followed by Kennedy at 16%. Approximately 9% of delegates in this region informed Global Info Analytics that they were undecided, while 19% opted not to disclose their preference.

This marks the second occasion on which Bawumia has outperformed Kennedy Agyapong in his own region according to surveys conducted by Musa Dankwa’s Global Info Analytics.
