An aide to the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has died following a head-on collision on the Akyem Oda–Nkwanta road on Saturday, May 16.
The deceased, Kofi Nti, was traveling in a Nissan Navara 4×4 pickup with registration number GT 2639-24 with three others. They were en route to Oda Nkwanta to help resolve disputes arising from the ongoing New Patriotic Party polling station elections.
Kofi Nti died at the scene, while the three other occupants sustained severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the hospital.
Officers from the Ghana Police Service responded to the scene, transported the injured to the hospital, and have opened an investigation into the crash.
The accident is the latest in a series of fatal road incidents involving public figures in the Eastern Region in recent weeks. Among them was Anim Kenneth, former Eastern Regional Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat and a key strategist for the MP for New Juaben South Constituency.
