GNFS Responds to Diesel Tanker Incident on Accra–Kumasi Highway
Asuboi, Eastern Region – May 19, 2026 – The Ghana National Fire Service prevented a potential disaster after a diesel tanker veered off the Accra–Kumasi Highway at Asuboi on Tuesday afternoon.

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station received a distress call at 13:42 hrs about a DAF tanker carrying 54,000 litres of diesel that had left the road. An 8-person crew led by STNOI Antwi Forson, with LFM Nyade Gilbert Tettey, was dispatched at 13:45 hrs and arrived on scene at 13:57 hrs.

Firefighters found the tanker, registration GM 5938-21, off the road but still upright in a nearby bush. A search confirmed no one was trapped or injured.

The driver told the crew that two middle tyres burst, causing him to lose steering control. The tanker sustained partial damage, but there were no casualties.
The team secured the scene and returned to base at 14:51 hrs.
