Ghana and South Korea have signed a historic Visa Waiver Agreement for holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports, marking the first such deal between the two nations in almost 50 years of formal bilateral relations.

South Korean Foreign Minister H.E. Cho Hyun and Ghana’s Foreign Minister signed the agreement on the sidelines of the ongoing Africa-Korea Foreign Ministers Meeting. The deal allows diplomatic and service passport holders from both countries to travel without visas, strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Accra and Seoul.

Negotiations will continue to extend the visa waiver to holders of Ordinary Passports. “I am delighted we are delivering on key priorities following the working visit of President Mahama to South Korea in March this year,” the Foreign Minister stated.

The agreement is expected to boost diplomatic engagement, trade, and people-to-people exchanges between Ghana and South Korea.
