A night of celebration turned to tragedy as 26-year-old lawyer Sarah Araba Tettey died suddenly after Ghana beat Panama

Sarah collapsed at Standard Hostel in Bomso as friends cheered Ghana’s win
The incident happened at the private hostel near KNUST on Wednesday night. Witnesses said she was caught up in the excitement after the final whistle, then slumped without warning. The celebration froze as friends realized something was wrong and rushed to help.
Doctors at KNUST Hospital battled for 45 minutes to save her
She was taken to Tech Hospital, where medical staff performed CPR for nearly three-quarters of an hour. Despite their efforts, she could not be revived and was pronounced dead shortly after. The medical team made every attempt to bring her back.

News of her death has hit the KNUST law community and the Ghana School of Law hard. To many, she was simply Araba Tettey, a young lawyer known for her professionalism, calm demeanour, and promise. Tributes have poured in from friends who describe her as diligent and full of potential.
Her body is now at the KNUST Medical School mortuary, awaiting burial arrangements
The family and hospital are yet to release an official statement on the exact cause of death. Her body has been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary pending further arrangements. The legal fraternity continues to mourn the loss of one of its brightest young voices.
