Ayariga hails Afenyo-Markin’s integrity during vetting

Outgoing Majority Leader and Minister-Designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, has showered praise on Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, describing him as an epitome of honesty and integrity.

Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 28, for his vetting, Mr. Ayariga said his working relationship with the Effutu MP over the past months had proven Afenyo-Markin’s fortitude and sincerity.

According to Ayariga, despite their political differences, Afenyo-Markin has shown leadership, cooperation, and commitment to consensus-building in the House.

“Hon. Afenyo-Markin is a man full of honesty, fortitude and integrity. He is what our tradition will call ‘Osahen’ – a brave and honest leader,” Ayariga stated.

He noted that the Minority Leader’s support and understanding had contributed significantly to the smooth running of Parliament during his tenure as Majority Leader.

The comment drew applause from members of the Committee, with Ayariga adding that he would continue to cherish the mutual respect between them even as he moves to the Local Government Ministry.

Ayariga, who is the MP for Bawku Central, is expected to be approved as Local Government Minister in the coming days.
