Mahama cuts sod for $1.3bn Sentuo Airport Garden City Project
President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for the construction of the $1.3 billion Sentuo Airport Garden City Project, a major mixed-use development set to transform Accra’s skyline.
The project, described as “The Garden Above Accra,” will comprise approximately 582 premium apartments, a 600-room hotel, a 2,500-capacity conference facility, healthcare facilities and a modern shopping mall.
It will also feature landscaped gardens, 503 parking bays within a four-storey apartment block, and other supporting commercial and leisure amenities.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, September 15, President Mahama called on the developers, Sentuo Group, to ensure meaningful participation of Ghanaians in the project.
He said Ghanaian engineers, architects, artisans, technicians, suppliers and other local businesses must be given opportunities to benefit from the investment.
According to the President, greater local involvement will ensure the project generates wider economic opportunities and jobs beyond the development itself.
President Mahama added that the expansion of conference infrastructure in Accra will position Ghana to host major international events, including United Nations conferences, and strengthen Accra’s status as a destination for international conferences and business.
