Police SOT arrests 41 suspects in Lapaz, Chantan crackdown

Accra, Oct. 18, 2026

The Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested 41 suspects in an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal hideouts at Lapaz and Chantan in Accra.

The operation, which was conducted at about 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 15, 2026, targeted criminal and narcotics-related activities in the two suburbs.

According to police, the suspects comprise 35 males and six females. A search conducted on the suspects and within the operational enclaves led to the retrieval of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances.

All 41 suspects are currently in police custody and assisting investigations.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the source, ownership and intended use of the suspected substances, after which appropriate legal action will be taken against any suspect found culpable.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to clamp down on criminal and narcotics activities across the country.
