The High Court of Ghana, General Jurisdiction 2, has approved bail for Abubakar Yakubu, the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party, commonly referred to as Baba Amando, after he spent two weeks in remand at an Accra Circuit Court.

The court set his bail at GH¢30,000, requiring two sureties, and mandated that he report to the police biweekly as investigations proceed.

Abubakar Yakubu was taken into custody on Monday, April 13, 2026, amid ongoing inquiries into allegations of offensive behavior, false publication, and the dissemination of statements likely to incite fear and panic.

His remand by the Accra Circuit Court on April 14 attracted significant attention, prompting authorities to ramp up their investigation into the alleged offenses.

While formal charges have not yet been filed, sources suggest that the arrest may be connected to purported threats made against a judge at the Adentan Circuit Court, a situation that has sparked concern among legal and governance experts.

Additionally, he is accused of sharing derogatory images of the President and several members of the ruling party.

As the case develops, investigators are focused on uncovering the complete details, while the conditions set by the court are intended to ensure Yakubu remains available to aid in the ongoing investigation.
