Mahama holds bilateral talks with Belarus President Lukashenko in Minsk

President John Dramani Mahama will hold bilateral talks today with Belarusian President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko at the Presidential Palace in Minsk. The high-level meeting caps President Mahama’s five-day official visit to Belarus, which was at the invitation of President Lukashenko.

4 MoUs to Be Signed

The talks will be followed by a high-level bilateral meeting between officials of both countries. Four memoranda of understanding covering economic, agricultural, and technical cooperation are expected to be signed after the engagement.

Ghana-Belarus Business Forum

Later this afternoon, President Mahama will address a Ghana-Belarus business forum at the Presidential Hotel. Ghana’s delegation includes officials from GEPA, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, GIPC, and a group of private sector players. The forum aims to deepen trade and investment ties between Accra and Minsk.

Tour of Belarus Agro Facilities

Over the weekend, President Mahama toured Savushkin Product, one of Belarus’ largest agro-processing facilities. He also visited the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition, where he was shown modern farming equipment, mechanisation tools, and food processing technology Belarus could export to Ghana.

Ghana Delegation

Accompanying the President are Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Stan Xoese Dogbe, and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim.

President Mahama’s visit is focused on exploring new frontiers for Ghana in agriculture, agro-processing, and technical cooperation with Belarus.
