Four suspected drug peddlers arrested in Mankranso Police operation

Firearm, suspected narcotics, and GH¢5,647 cash recovered in Kunsu Township
KUMASI, Ashanti Region
The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspected drug peddlers and recovered a firearm, suspected narcotic substances, and cash during an intelligence-led operation in the Ashanti Region.
According to a press release issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, the Mankranso District Police Command carried out the operation in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026, at identified locations within Kunsu Township.

Suspects in custody
The suspects have been identified as: Issaka Musah, 22 Amankwah Emmanuel, 25 Kwame Boateng, 32 Appiah Prince, 23. Police say the operation forms part of the Service’s sustained efforts to clamp down on the trafficking and peddling of illicit drugs and other related criminal activities in the district.

Exhibits recovered
Items retrieved from the suspects include one locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition. Officers also seized quantities of suspected Tramadol, red capsules, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and a whitish powdery substance wrapped in paper suspected to be cocaine. Additionally, GH¢5,647.40 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the alleged illicit trade, was recovered.

Investigation ongoing
The Police stated that during preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly admitted ownership of the recovered exhibits. All four remain in Police custody and are assisting with investigations. They will be put before the court upon the conclusion of investigations.
In the release signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Ashanti Region, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its resolve to fight drug-related offences and organised crime.
“We urge members of the public to continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information to help identify and apprehend individuals engaged in criminal activities,” the statement read.
