GES probes alleged sexual misconduct involving Mim SHS security officer and student

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ahafo Region has launched investigations into an alleged sexual incident involving a security officer at Mim Senior High School and a female student.
The allegation has sparked concern within the Mim community after reports that the security officer allegedly approached the student and solicited sexual activity.
The development reportedly angered some youth in the community, who are said to have assaulted the security officer in the aftermath of the incident.
Authorities have since commenced investigations to establish the facts and determine whether any misconduct occurred.
Confirming the development, the Asunafo North Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, Samuel Jatong Larri, said the Service has already interviewed both parties as part of the inquiry.
According to him, the female student was interviewed in the presence of her parents to ensure her account was properly documented while safeguarding her welfare.
“We interviewed the security man. We also interviewed the girl in question in the presence of her mother and the father. So, the security man narrated his side of it. The girl also did the same thing,” Mr. Larri explained.
He said the Directorate is compiling its report for onward submission to the Regional Director.
“So, we are putting the reports together… we will forward it to the regional director. When it happens like this, the girl is our main focus. We are focused on how to protect the girl in terms of psychological trauma that she would be going through,” he added.
