President Mahama dissolves 9 State Boards
Accra, Sept. 2, 2026 —
President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the governing boards of nine state institutions with immediate effect.
A statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the dissolution on Tuesday afternoon, September 2, 2026.
The nine affected institutions are:
- Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) – chaired by Prof. Joe Oteng-Adjei
- Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) – chaired by Prof. Saint Kuttu
- Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) – chaired by Ernest Mawuli Agbesi
- Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited – chaired by Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore
- Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) – chaired by Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah
- Ghana Post Company Limited – chaired by Petra Aba Asamoah
- Road Maintenance Trust Fund – chaired by Isaac Adjei Mensah (MP, Wassa East)
- TDC Ghana Limited – chaired by Isaac Ashai Odamtten (MP, Tema East)
- National Sports Authority (NSA) – chaired by Prof. Fred Awaah
The President has directed relevant sector ministers to take all necessary steps, in accordance with applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution.
The Presidency said the affected boards will be reconstituted in due course, and thanked outgoing members for their service.
In the interim, management teams of the affected institutions will continue to handle day-to-day operations under the supervision of their sector ministries. Management has been instructed not to take major policy, financial, or contractual decisions requiring board approval without prior authorization.
