Police arrest 2, seize 692 parcels of wee at Dawhenya

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested two persons and seized 692 parcels of suspected Indian hemp during a snap-check operation at Dawhenya in the Prampram Division.

The suspects, identified as Godwin Asigeh, the driver, and his assistant Freeman Amedoku, were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

According to a press release signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs, Tema, and dated 9th September 2026, police at about 12:45 a.m. intercepted an Accra-bound Ford Transit vehicle with registration number GT 6140-22 at Dawhenya.

A search of the vehicle revealed 692 parcels of suspected Indian hemp wrapped in yellow polythene bags.

The suspects, together with the vehicle and the substance, were conveyed to the Devtraco Police Station.

Police say the substance has been retained as an exhibit while the vehicle has been impounded. The two suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Command has highly commended the arresting officers and assured the public of its resolve to intensify efforts to prevent trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances in the region.
