President Mahama convenes High-Level Meeting on Border Security and Narcotics Control at Jubilee House
The Office of the President has summoned heads of key state institutions to a high-level meeting to strengthen Ghana’s border security and prevent the trafficking of narcotic drugs and other illicit substances through the country’s ports, airports and land borders.
The meeting, which is at the instance of President John Dramani Mahama, is scheduled for Thursday, 17th September, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at the Jubilee House.
This is contained in an invitation letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama on 14th September, 2026 (Ref No. OPS308/3/26/344).
According to the letter, the meeting will review existing vulnerabilities, intelligence-sharing arrangements, cargo and passenger-screening systems, inter-agency coordination, and the deployment of technology to detect and disrupt narcotics trafficking.
Each institution has been directed to be represented by its head, accompanied by no more than one relevant technical officer. Participants are expected to come prepared to provide a brief assessment of existing security gaps and propose practical measures to improve intelligence sharing, surveillance, screening, and joint enforcement operations.
The Presidency stressed the urgency and national-security implications of the meeting, noting that personal attendance of the heads is required.

- Chief Executive, Ghana Link Network Services Ltd
- Director-General, Ghana Maritime Authority
- Chief of Naval Staff
- CEO, Meridian Port Services Ltd
- Director-General, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB)Ghana Police Service — Criminal Investigations Department / Interpol
- Director-General, Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC)Managing Director, Ghana Airports Company Limited
The meeting comes at a time when NACOC is seeking drug seizure details from France.
