Traffitech-GH takes effect, motorists warned against fraudsters

The Ghana Police Service has announced that the automation of road traffic law enforcement in Ghana, dubbed Traffitech-GH, officially took effect on November 1, 2026.

The project, being implemented by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), aims to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations across the country.

In a press release issued from Police Headquarters in Accra on November 4, 2026, the Police reminded motorists to observe road traffic regulations and to follow the approved procedures for verifying and paying traffic fines.

According to the Police, genuine traffic violation notifications will only come from the official Sender ID GPS-MTTD.

“Genuine traffic violation notifications will not be sent from an ordinary mobile phone number,” the statement stressed.

Motorists who receive a notification are advised to open their Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or ticket to view and confirm the vehicle’s photograph and number plate, the location, date, and time of the offence. Where available, they should also watch the video evidence attached.

How to Pay

The Police outlined two approved payment channels:

1. NIB Payment Portal:

Visit https://traffitech-ghpay.nib.com.gh, select Make Payment, enter your Ticket Number, check the details, and follow the payment prompts.

2. USSD:

Dial *710*0# and follow the prompts to pay using your Ticket Number.

Beware of Fraud

The Police have issued a strong safety warning to motorists and vehicle owners to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraud.

“Never pay a traffic fine into a personal mobile-money number or through any unofficial account,” the release warned.

For assistance or further enquiries, the public can call 059 692 2402.
