New Economy Programme to boost local production, cut imports and create jobs

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson says the government’s New Economy programme will boost local production, reduce Ghana’s dependence on imports and create more jobs by directing investment towards productive sectors of the economy.

Dr. Forson explained that the programme is designed to reposition Ghana’s economy on a path of sustainable, inclusive growth, with a deliberate focus on strengthening domestic industries and value addition.

He noted that by channeling investment into agriculture, manufacturing and other productive sectors, the initiative will expand employment opportunities, improve livelihoods and enhance the country’s economic resilience.
