The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says the Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon. John Darko, has honoured its invitation in connection with ongoing investigations into an alleged criminal conspiracy at SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.

According to a news release signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education Unit for the Executive Director, EOCO is investigating a revised financial loss to the company now estimated at approximately GH¢27 million.

As part of the investigations, the Office invited Hon. John Darko to assist investigators with information relevant to the matter.

“The Honourable Member honoured the invitation and reported to the Office at exactly 12:00 noon today. He was respectful, cooperative and fully responsive throughout the investigative process,” the statement said.

EOCO said, having regard to the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and the MP’s level of cooperation, the Office granted him enquiry bail.

The Office also disclosed that the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, has also honoured EOCO’s invitation and is cooperating with investigators.

EOCO emphasised that investigations are progressing steadily according to its case theory and that as the investigation remains active, no conclusion has been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the matter.
