Eight Convicted for Ablekuma North Election Violence

The Accra Regional Police Command has announced that eight individuals have been convicted and fined for their involvement in violent incidents during the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run election on July 11, 2025. The convicts are:

– Mohammed Abubakari, 32

– Tijani Mahamudu, 38

– Prince Dzakpasu, 39

– Anas Mohammed, 42

– Mohammed Hamda, 35

– Darko Otibu Samuel, 33

– Musah Muntari, 46

– Ali Saeed alias Bomba, 43

On August 29, 2025, the Circuit Court in Accra found the eight persons guilty of conspiracy to commit crime, specifically assault, and assault, contrary to Sections 23(1) and 84 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Each convict was fined 500 penalty units on all four counts. In default of payment, they will serve 24 months imprisonment, which will run concurrently.

The police command has cautioned the public to refrain from all forms of electoral violence and respect the rule of law, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace during elections.
