The people of Sefwi Asawinso are heartbroken after an 8-year-old girl previously declared missing was found deceased.

Reports indicate that the young girl, named Josphine Ayitey, disappeared from her home on Sunday afternoon while playing with a friend. A desperate search was initiated by family members and residents after efforts to find her were unsuccessful.

Tragically, less than 24 hours later, her lifeless body was located in a cocoa farm on the outskirts of the town. According to reports, the body was found discarded in a cocoa farm near Nkwakaw, a suburb of Sefwi Asawinso.

Community members who hurried to the location were left heartbroken by the devastating discovery. Adu Stephen, the Assemblyman for the Asawinso-Sefwi Line Electoral Area, confirmed the occurrence and mentioned that the case has been reported to the police for further investigation.

An eyewitness also allegedly noted signs that may indicate foul play, raising alarm among residents. This tragic event has incited fear and anger within the community, with residents urging the Ghana Police Service to promptly investigate the situation and hold those accountable to justice.

The body has been taken to the morgue, awaiting an autopsy, while police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s death.
