Tema Oil Refinery TOR has recorded a profit of GH¢1.24 billion, marking a major turnaround for the state-owned refinery.

According to Day Break, Managing Director Edmond Kombat announced the figures, saying the profit reflects improved operational efficiency and better management of the facility. The result comes after years of financial struggles and shutdowns that affected TOR’s contribution to Ghana’s fuel supply.

The GH¢1.24 billion profit is being described as one of the strongest performances by the refinery in recent years. Management attributes the success to cost-cutting measures, improved maintenance, and strategic decisions to optimize refining operations.

Industry watchers say the turnaround could boost investor confidence and reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products. If sustained, the performance may also ease pressure on fuel prices for consumers.

Mr. Kombat stated that the management team remains focused on sustaining the gains and positioning TOR as a competitive refinery in the sub-region. He added that more investments will be channeled into upgrading equipment and expanding capacity.

The profit announcement has been welcomed by stakeholders who have long called for reforms at TOR to make it financially viable.

State Interest and Governance Authority has issued a release regarding the gain.
