GNFS Responds to Bus Accident at Fise and Trailer Fire at McCarthy Hill

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to two separate incidents in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

At Fise, firefighters from the Amasaman Fire Station responded to an accident involving a VIP Yutong bus that had crashed into a concrete barricade. The collision resulted in a diesel spillage and caused partial damage to the bus’s bumper, side glass and side door.

According to the GNFS, personnel swiftly contained the spillage and secured the scene to prevent a secondary incident. No injuries were recorded. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

In a separate incident at McCarthy Hill, the Weija Fire Station crew battled a fire involving a MAN diesel trailer. The crew met the blaze well alight on arrival.

The fire was brought under control at 08:13 hours and was completely extinguished at 09:01 hours. The head of the trailer was extensively damaged, while the trailer compartment was partially affected.

No casualties were recorded in either incident, and investigations are ongoing to determine the causes.
