3 Suspects arrested over kidnapping and murder of Circle phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere appear in court
Three suspects arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old mobile phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, popularly known as Terry or Dinero, appeared before the Teshie-Nungua District Court on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The suspects — Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai — were arrested following investigations by the Missing Persons Unit of the Ghana Police Service.
Chaotic scenes greeted their appearance as they were escorted down the courthouse steps amid a crowd of onlookers, many filming and hooting at them. The case has been adjourned to October 16, 2026, with the suspects remanded in police custody.
Police Account:
According to a police statement issued on Monday, Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, in his Honda Civic and did not return. He was reported missing on September 22.
Preliminary investigations indicate he was lured to Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams. Police say both suspects later confessed to their involvement.
Tefe allegedly attacked Kyere during a confrontation, hitting him with a metallic object. The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended and later died.
On September 20, the body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to an area near the Accra-Tema Motorway, dumped in a bush at Community 18, and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered on September 21.
Kyere’s biological mother and an uncle identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
Police have also recovered Kyere’s iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving.
Josiah Obodai was arrested in connection with the disposal of the body, and his father’s Kia Morning, believed to have been used to transport the body, has been impounded.
Police say investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest any other persons involved.
