Fire destroys vulcanising shop at Begoro roundabout; no casualties recorded

BEGORO, E/R –
A fire outbreak has destroyed a vulcanising shop near the Old ECG Office at the Begoro Roundabout in the Fanteakwa North District of the Eastern Region.
The Begoro Fire Station responded to the incident on Saturday, 10th October, 2026, following a distress call at 1852 hours.

A crew led by SubO Effah arrived at the scene at 1901 hours to find a wooden structure containing tyres and vulcanising equipment fully engulfed by fire, with the blaze threatening adjoining shops located under high-tension cables.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), firefighting efforts were initially delayed pending the disconnection of power by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) due to the high-tension cables over the affected structure.

The fire was brought under control at 1935 hours and completely extinguished at 1945 hours.

A reinforcement team, Pump Two from the Bunso Fire Station, arrived at 2009 hours after the fire had been extinguished.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the cause of the fire was an unattended fire set by the vulcaniser.

No casualties were recorded; however, property damage is estimated at GH¢43,200.
The GNFS has advised the public, especially artisans, to ensure all fires are properly extinguished and to observe basic fire safety precautions to prevent such incidents.
