NPP Opens Expressions of Interest for 2028 Parliamentary Candidates

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the opening of expressions of interest for members seeking to become the party’s parliamentary candidates for the 2028 general elections.
In a statement dated October 29, 2026, and signed by the Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the party said the move marks the formal beginning of its journey to select credible, competent and committed candidates to contest in all 276 constituencies.
The party said it is implementing a structured and transparent process to ensure a level playing field for all contestants.
According to the statement, with reference number NPP/HQ/2026/10/29/PR/NCD, prospective candidates are to take note of the following guidelines:
- Expression of Interest: Interested members are to express their interest online by completing the form at ppc.nppghana.org between Sunday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 10, 2026. No applications will be accepted outside this window.
- Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of GH¢5,000.00 applies to every prospective candidate.
- Vetting and Screening: All applicants will go through a vetting and screening exercise to determine their eligibility.
- Capacity Building Workshops: Follow-up capacity building workshops will be organised in December 2026 for all prospective candidates across the Northern, Middle and Southern zones.
- Incumbent MPs: Sitting NPP Members of Parliament are not exempt. The guidelines apply universally to everyone seeking to represent the party.
- No Campaigning: An expression of interest does not grant permission to begin campaigning. The party’s earlier directive to cease all campaign activities remains in force until official clearance is given. Any breach will attract sanctions in accordance with the party’s constitution and regulations.
- Level Playing Field: The party said the structured process is to guarantee fairness, transparency and equal opportunity for all contestants.
The party urged all prospective aspirants to familiarise themselves with the guidelines and to conduct themselves with discipline, decorum and respect for one another.
It added that further details on the vetting schedule and zonal workshop venues will be communicated through the party’s official channels.
