Mahama commissions solar-powered ICT Centre in Damongo
President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Mahama ICT Centre in Damongo, describing the facility as a key complement to government’s Basic Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (BSTEM) programme.
According to a post shared by the Presidency on Facebook, the President said the centre would support practical learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, particularly in the area of information and communications technology.

He explained that the facility comes at a crucial time following the rollout of the BSTEM programme in the region, and is expected to enhance opportunities for students and young people to develop digital and technical skills.

President Mahama also expressed satisfaction that the ICT centre is powered entirely by solar energy, describing it as a “green lab” that aligns with sustainable development goals.

The facility is expected to serve as a hub for ICT training and innovation within the Savannah Region, while supporting broader efforts to improve access to technology-driven education.

The commissioning formed part of the President’s activities during his “Resetting Ghana” tour of the Savannah Region.
