Kennedy Agyapong dares NPP: ‘They can’t shut me down’ over Afari Hospital criticism
Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says he will not be intimidated or silenced by NPP criticism after accusing the party of failing to complete and operationalise the Afari Military Hospital during its eight years in government. Speaking on Net 2 TV, he described the facility as a missed opportunity to improve healthcare for military personnel and civilians.
Agyapong rejects ‘bitter’ label from party members
His remarks follow backlash from some NPP members who called him bitter. Agyapong dismissed the claims, saying his comments are driven by concerns about national development, not partisan interests. “The NPP says I am bitter. I will not say anything to them. They think it is about what they did during the campaign. They can’t shut me down,” he stated.
Alleges Agenda 111 contracts sold with 10% kickbacks
The former NPP flagbearer aspirant challenged the party on its healthcare record. “If Ghanaians want to know, they should ask them about Agenda 111 if they were able to complete one. They sold the contracts to other people and take 10 per cent,” he alleged. He warned that continued attempts to dismiss his claims could force him to reveal more.
Threatens to ‘spill the beans’ on contract deals
“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place,” he cautioned. Agyapong further claimed the practice of selling public contracts and demanding kickbacks is not limited to one party, citing an alleged $55 million NDC-linked deal where his wife was asked for 7% advance.
Says corruption remains entrenched in Ghana’s politics
Agyapong maintained that corruption is deeply rooted in Ghana’s political system and that politicians are misleading the public. He insisted he cannot be pressured into silence, arguing that accountability on projects like Afari Military Hospital and Agenda 111 is necessary for national progress.
