HeKAP issues holding statement, denies claims on Komfo Anokye project governance
The Heal Komfo Anokye Project (HeKAP) has released a holding statement addressing recent publications that raised questions about the governance and accountability of the initiative to transform Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
In the statement signed by Chairman Samuel Adu-Boakye, HeKAP assured the public, donors, partners, and stakeholders that the project “remains fully committed to its mission” under the vision and leadership of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.
Response to allegations
HeKAP said some claims and characterizations in the publication “do not accurately reflect the facts.” However, instead of issuing piecemeal commentary, the project said it will provide a comprehensive and factual response.
“A detailed statement addressing the matters raised will be issued following the appropriate consultations after the return of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,” the statement read.
Commitment to transparency
The project reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, professionalism, and service. It also thanked supporters who share the vision of improving healthcare infrastructure for Ghanaians.
Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi is undergoing a major redevelopment under HeKAP, with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II championing the project to modernize one of Ghana’s largest referral hospitals.
HeKAP is expected to publish the full response after consultations with the Asantehene, who is currently on his historic visit to Toronto, Canada.
