The Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has commended the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) for launching the ThankYouTeacher National Raffle Campaign, describing it as another opportunity to recognise teachers’ contributions to national development.

Speaking at the press launch of the campaign, the Vice President said the initiative demonstrates what prudent investment can achieve.

According to the Vice President, through its investments in the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre, the Association is helping to expand cancer diagnosis and treatment in the country. She particularly acknowledged Mr. Kwame Pianim’s leadership and contribution to the centre.

The Vice President said the initiative is significant as the country observes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, noting that a cancer diagnosis can place enormous emotional and financial pressure on individuals and families.

She therefore welcomed the collaboration between the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), as well as efforts to expand access to specialist services beyond Accra.

“Healthcare is about people, and compassion, continuity of care, and affordability matter as much as the infrastructure and technology we invest in,” the Vice President stated.

She noted that while Government bears central responsibility for healthcare delivery, institutions such as GNAT show how organisations can mobilise resources to benefit those beyond their immediate membership.

The Vice President said the campaign appropriately recognises a profession whose contribution shapes every other profession.
