UNIDO reaffirms commitment to deepen industrial partnership with Ghana
Accra, July 28, 2026 —
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with Ghana to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
The assurance was given when the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), received the Open Letters of the Representative-Designate of UNIDO, Dr. Emmanuel Kalenzi, on Friday, 24th July 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.
Mr. Ablakwa described UNIDO as one of Ghana’s trusted and valued development partners, commending the Organization for its significant contributions to poverty alleviation, industrial development, job creation, and the economic empowerment of communities.
The Minister noted that Dr. Kalenzi assumes office at a time when the Government of Ghana is implementing key economic reforms under the Reset Agenda. He expressed confidence that Dr. Kalenzi’s expertise and experience would contribute meaningfully to advancing the country’s industrialisation drive.
He further conveyed Ghana’s appreciation to UNIDO for its steadfast support and continued confidence in the country’s vision for inclusive and sustainable economic transformation.
In his remarks, Dr. Kalenzi reaffirmed UNIDO’s commitment to deepening its collaboration with the Government of Ghana. He gave his assurance that he would build on the achievements of his predecessor in strengthening cooperation in priority areas.
Dr. Kalenzi also reiterated UNIDO’s readiness to support the Government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative as part of efforts to accelerate industrial growth and sustainable economic transformation.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the partnership between Ghana and UNIDO. They expressed confidence that enhanced collaboration would accelerate Ghana’s industrialisation agenda and advance its sustainable development aspirations.
