19-Year-Old Arrested Over Asabi Robbery After Swift Police Response

A swift night patrol by the Asokore Mampong Police has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man suspected of robbing and attacking a man at Asabi.
According to a press statement from the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, the incident occurred around 12:20am on July 21, 2026. The Asokore Mampong Night Patrol Team received information that a male adult had been robbed of his mobile phone and was found unconscious near the Presbyterian Church at Asabi.
Police rushed to the scene and spotted the suspect, who fled and hid in an uncompleted building. He was pursued and arrested. The suspect has been identified as Ahmed Mustapha, 19. During a search, officers retrieved the victim’s stolen mobile phone and a machete. Both items have been kept as exhibits.
The victim sustained machete wounds to the forehead, neck, and left hand. He was rushed to KNUST Hospital and admitted for treatment. Police said that when they visited the victim at about 5:30am the same day, he had regained consciousness and was in stable condition. He remains under observation and continues to receive medical care.
Ahmed Mustapha is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
