The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the murder of a 36-year-old Nigerian man, Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze, whose body was found in his residence at Sanzirigu, Tamale, on Saturday, 11th July 2026.

The suspects have been identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa. According to police, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects, and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor.

Police said the incident came to light after a report was made that the deceased had been found lying motionless in a pool of blood in his bedroom. A team of investigators dispatched to the scene found that Mr. Eze had sustained a deep cut wound to the forehead and had a towel stuffed in his mouth. The room had also been ransacked.

During the crime scene examination, officers recovered a wooden pestle suspected to have been used in the attack, along with other items for forensic examination. The body was conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed him dead. It has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

In an intelligence-led operation on the same day, police intercepted and arrested the two suspects at Tatale as they attempted to flee into the Republic of Togo. They were subsequently handed over to the Tamale District CID to assist with investigations.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted conspiring to murder the deceased. They claimed the act was carried out after an argument over proceeds the group had allegedly obtained through internet fraud activities, which the deceased was said to be withholding.

A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of several items suspected to have been stolen from the deceased’s room. These included multiple mobile phones, laptop computers, a tablet, jewellery, clothing, wristwatches, personal documents and other valuables. All items have been retained as exhibits.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before the court on Monday, 13th July 2026, to facilitate ongoing investigations.

The Northern Regional Police Command says it remains committed to ensuring that all persons involved are brought to justice. It is urging the public to continue supporting police efforts by volunteering credible information to help fight crime.
